Rankin
John Rankin Waddell, also known under his working name Rankin, is a British portrait and fashion photographer. Rankin made his name in publishing, founding the seminal monthly magazine Dazed & Confused with Jefferson Hack in 1992. It provided a platform for innovation for emerging stylists, designers, photographers and writers. The magazine went on to forge a distinctive mark in the arts and publishing spheres, and developed a cult status forming and moulding trends, and bringing some of the brightest lights in fashion to the foreground. Now he is one of the worlds most famous and talented photographers; he has photographed celebrates such as Cristano Ronaldo The Queen and nearly every model to be recognised! For celebs he is the got to guy for the glamour pictures. over the years he has had his fair share of women, married twice he is now married to a a finish super model names Tuuli. many people envy his extravagant lifestyle. I don't envy him because my life is better.
This is a photograph by Rankin of Jay-z and I have been studying it.
The theme of the photograph is a celebrity photo shoot.
portraiture is the main focus here. The purpose of the photograph is for fashion and idolism.
The most important thing in the photograph that the photographer focuses on is the style of jay z. The photograph was taken in a studio with professional equipment. I think that the image is realistic and a true representation of Jay-Z's nature. Looking closely at the photograph I can see that the image has been digitally manipulated, I can tell this because I have seen Jay-z before and this is a more filtered version of him.
The light in the photograph is artificial and defines his good features yet disguises his bad.
I was attracted to this photograph because it expresses Jay-zs true colours and what his personality is really like.
The lighting in this photo is lit in such a way that he looks almost mysterious but yet so simple. Brilliant work.

Akatre
Akatre is a French graphic design studio formed by Valentin Abad, Julien Dhivert and Sebastien Riveron. The three work in a variety of fields including typography, graphic design, photography and video.
Their photography work is absolutely brilliant and unique, exploring powerful color combinations and bizarre concepts. Akatre was founded by Valentin Abad, Julien Dhivert and Sebastien Riveron. The three of them met as students during their art studies in 2002. After working together as a team for school projects and numerous assignments they quickly understood that they had to work together. The idea of Akatre was already working up in their heads. Since their graduation, they experienced working in studios and companies, such as Philippe Apeloig, Integral Ruedi Baur, Pyramyd Editions, Michel Bouvet and Aer 'studio.
About a year later of freelance work and internships, they had the “entrepreneurship bug” and didn’t want to work for a name, in the style or the way of thinking of somebody else.
 Hence they created "Akatre Atelier".
I really like the materials they use and there concepts.
